The Swiss Cantons and the neighboring border regions urge the President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis and the Vice-president of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič to find viable answers to the questions of future cooperation.
The Swiss Cantons and the regions around Switzerland addressed a letter to the President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis and to the Vice-president of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič on 5 July.

The Swiss cantons and the neighbor regions in France, Germany, Italy, Austria (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Baden-Württemberg, Bayern, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Bozen-Südtirol, Grand Est and Vorarlberg), as well as Liechstenstein, recalled the long history they share, but also the common languages and the strong tights at economical, scientific and social level.

They jointly urge the Swiss Confederation and the European Commission “to find viable answers to the questions of future cooperation. This requires a recognizable will to act and convincing proposals. The future relationship between the European Union and Switzerland must be legally secure, reliable and open to new areas of cooperation. The Swiss cantons and the neighboring border regions will support you in these efforts with full energy.”
