The Russel Group of 24 leading British universities has written to the European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen on 19 July, urging her to confirm UK association to Horizon Europe as the benefits it will bring to all parties are too important to be used as part of the general UK-EU negotiation.

A few weeks ago, the Russel Group also wrote to both UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the European Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič in charge of the UK-EU relations, calling on them to intervene to break the deadlock on UK association to Horizon Europe, and “unlock the enormous benefits to the UK & EU”.
